APRIL 2017

6th Grade at Seven Stars Farm
6th grade made their annual trip to Kimberton to visit Seven Stars Farm, a biodynamic farm which produces organic yogurt. We filled sandbags to weight down the plant covers; it took teamwork and communication with our partner to hold the bags and shovel! We tasted herbs including mint, garlic and chive, and visited the bee hives and learned about pollination.  Then we celebrated by eating some of the world's best maple yogurt!" ~ Tr. Alex

Founders and Alumni Day
On Friday, April 7th, we held our annual Alumni Day!  Around 30 of our wonderful SFS Alumni joined us for lunch, meeting for worship and the ever popular faculty vs alumni volleyball game.  Our Alumni beat us in the first two games of volleyball, so for the third and final game we brought in our ringers #2017Classof2017

Earlier on Friday we celebrated Founders' Day - SFS Founders Sandy & Dorothy met with our teams of students in the library for a Q&A session.

6th Grade Visits Square Tavern

6th Grade spent the afternoon Friday at Square Tavern, the home of Quaker painter Benjamin West, and also to Newtown Square Friends Meeting. They explored the graveyard and found many very old headstones with names they recognized from the area (Dunwoody, Williamson, Caley, West).

A historic impersonator met us at the Tavern in the guise of Benjamin West himself.  Benjamin West has been called the father of American Painting.
