To configure a field layout, click the gear on the form's heading in Campus, or go to Security > Maintenance > Field Layouts and choose the form.  Creating and changing a layout requires a Full role on the form's module or the Security Full role.  Choosing who uses a layout requires the Security Full role.  See Field Layout for how Campus decides which layout a person sees.

Creating Field Layout
- Open the form in Campus and click the gear at the top right of its heading.  The Field Layouts page opens with that form selected.
- Click New Layout.
- Enter a Name, for example Athletic Trainer or Front Desk.
- Under Fields shown, untick each field the people using this layout do not need.  Fields are grouped under the form's own headings.
- Tick Default for everyone else to use this layout for anyone without a layout of their own or a layout through their role.  A form has one default.
- Click Save.

Choosing Who Uses Layout
- Under Who uses this layout, tick the Roles and Users who should see the form this way.  Only the roles and people who can open the form are listed.
- Click Save.
- Click Back to Form to open the form with the layout in place.
Note: Each person and each role has one layout on a form.  A name followed by (now: Layout Name) already uses another layout, and ticking it here moves it to this one.

Important fields
Name: what the Field Layouts list calls the layout.
Default for everyone else: makes this the layout for anyone the other layouts do not cover.
Fields shown: every field on the form.  An unticked field is hidden.  A field marked (required) or (always shown on this form) cannot be unticked.
Roles: the roles that use this layout.
Users: the people who use this layout, whatever their roles.

Using Visit Template with Field Layout
- Go to Health > Maintenance > Visit Templates and open the template.
- Choose a Field layout and click Save.
When a nurse applies the template on a new visit, the form switches to that layout.  The fields the template fills in and anything the nurse has already typed stay on screen.  Once the visit is saved, the form returns to the nurse's own layout.

Deleting Field Layout
- Open the layout and click Delete.
People who used it see the form through their role's layout or the default.  No record changes.

Note: The Field Layouts list shows (no longer on the form) beside a hidden field the form does not have anymore.  Saving the layout removes it from the list.

Note: Some forms in Campus do not support field layouts yet.  Those forms have no gear.
