Coach Lucy Schoedel is the Head Coach of the Northwood School girls’ hockey team. Schoedel joined the Northwood staff in 2015 after coaching the previous five seasons in the collegiate ranks, assistant coaching at SUNY Buffalo State, Brown University, and Wesleyan University. As a player, she pioneered Syracuse University’s Division I program and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. She was a two-time MVP with the Orange and was also a two-time nominee for the Patty Kazmaier Award, presented annually to the top player in NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey. Schoedel has been a highly active coach and scout with USA Hockey and has coached at multiple girls' Player Development Camps since 2011.  Schoedel also served as the Goaltending Coach for the U18 Women’s National team, capturing back-to-back gold medals at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championships in 2015 and 2016.


Originally from Ithaca, NY, Schoedel lives on-campus with her cat, Jazzy.  Schoedel is an active member in Northwood’s Sustainability Club and serves as a faculty liaison for Northwood's Gay-Straight Alliance.




Coach Morgan Illikainen joins Northwood School this fall as a member of the history faculty, a dorm parent and a member of the girls hockey coaching staff. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Morgan played defense for four years for the Big Green. Morgan was an alternate captain during her senior year and wrapped up her career at Dartmouth with 112 games played, 7 goals, and 22 assists.  Morgan hails from Grand Rapids, MN where she played for the Grand Rapids Greenway Lightning and the Minnesota Junior Whitecaps.
